somatic anxiety

Somatic anxiety is anxiety provoked by bodily symptoms of tension such as butterflies in the stomach.[citation needed] It is commonly contrasted with cognitive anxiety which is that provoked by mental concerns or worry. These different components or dimensions of anxiety are especially studied in sports psychology.[1]
